It was bound to happen. JuJu played a smaller clay tournament to get ready for RG. So she played a smaller grass tournament to get ready for Wimbledon. And she won them both. Perhaps the crazy psycho killer game style is starting to pay off.

Shoulders played a fantastic first set. Simply overpowering Justine and hitting through her, she also used angles to hit powerful return winners. She even found herself up 3-0 in the third, but unfortunately collapsed mentally as Justine refused to give up. Now she gets Serena in the second round of Wimbley. Crap stuff.

I still don’t think Justine has a legit shot at Wimbledon this year because of the huge hitters in her draw. She’s going to be overpowered sooner than later. It’s going to be interesting to see though, for sure.

There really isn’t any way that you can dislike Andrea Petkovic. She has a huge game. She has an awesome Twitter account where she answers fans questions and posts goofy pictures of herself. She also studies while being a pro tennis player, yet is the self-proclaimed “first ever tennis-playing Rock ‘n’ Roller.”

Like her yet?

Hopefully, because she’s probably sticking around. She’s been plagued by injuries, but is finally hitting her stride this year at age 22. I remember seeing her play in Brisbane earlier this year, where she eventually lost to Kim in the semis. Huge, huge game, and even bigger shoulders. Pretty sure I’m going to start calling her Shoulders. Actually, I’ll add that to the dictionary right now. Anyway, everything was a little laborious and inconsistent, but the power was impressive. Things are starting to come together.

She will have a shot to win her second WTA title tomorrow as she takes on some Justine chick.

Joint – Eastbourne (Premier and 250)

Official Site: Here
Draws: Women & Men
Top Women Seeds:
Caro, Franny, Superhero, A-Rad
Top Men Seeds: Nico, Feli, Gilles, Jules

Pretty friggin’ epic draw for the ladies. Almost wished this was last week, and the men did it this week. I’d rather have them have the week before Wimbley off, and more top players choose this as a warm-up since it’s the only grass tournament at a Premier level. But what the hell do I know? Possible Sam/Franny semi re-match, that being if Franny can make it past the absolute power house that Sorana is for her first round match-up. Oh Sorana Banana, where art thou?

As for the men, Nico is your top seed and Gilles is your third seed. Need I say more?

Joint – ‘s-Hertogenbosch (International and 250)

Official Site: Here
Draws: Women & Men
Ladies Top Seeds:
Justine, Dinara, Kiri, Slava, Dulgheru
Men Top Seeds: Ljubs, Marcos, T-Rob, VikTroicks

Interesting little tournament for the ladies. Young Dane Dutchie Arantxa Rus continues to impress, with a first round win over AMG, of course Justine hanging around, and a fun second round match between Ana and friend Petkovic (who apparently speaks Serbian, wonder if that has something to do with it).

Remember when Benjamin Becker won this tournament as a qualifier, and in so capturing his first ever ATP title? Yeah me neither. Go Marcos.
