I found myself rooting really hard for Petko yesterday.

Andrea has lost so many tight matches lately (seriously, it’s heart breaking to see her cry) that it’s nice to see her winning two of these in a row. She had a very solid win over Nads in the 1st round and this one was pretty dramatic too. Petko lost the 1st set, evened things in the 2nd and had to save 3 match points to eventually win the match.

Her reaction was amazing. Have you guys seen her dance? I wish there were pics of that. It was hilariously awesome. I really can’t find more adjectives to describe Andrea. You have to follow her closely to understand. Man, I hope she can keep up with these results.

It was bound to happen. JuJu played a smaller clay tournament to get ready for RG. So she played a smaller grass tournament to get ready for Wimbledon. And she won them both. Perhaps the crazy psycho killer game style is starting to pay off.

Shoulders played a fantastic first set. Simply overpowering Justine and hitting through her, she also used angles to hit powerful return winners. She even found herself up 3-0 in the third, but unfortunately collapsed mentally as Justine refused to give up. Now she gets Serena in the second round of Wimbley. Crap stuff.

I still don’t think Justine has a legit shot at Wimbledon this year because of the huge hitters in her draw. She’s going to be overpowered sooner than later. It’s going to be interesting to see though, for sure.

There really isn’t any way that you can dislike Andrea Petkovic. She has a huge game. She has an awesome Twitter account where she answers fans questions and posts goofy pictures of herself. She also studies while being a pro tennis player, yet is the self-proclaimed “first ever tennis-playing Rock ‘n’ Roller.”

Like her yet?

Hopefully, because she’s probably sticking around. She’s been plagued by injuries, but is finally hitting her stride this year at age 22. I remember seeing her play in Brisbane earlier this year, where she eventually lost to Kim in the semis. Huge, huge game, and even bigger shoulders. Pretty sure I’m going to start calling her Shoulders. Actually, I’ll add that to the dictionary right now. Anyway, everything was a little laborious and inconsistent, but the power was impressive. Things are starting to come together.

She will have a shot to win her second WTA title tomorrow as she takes on some Justine chick.

Gawd dayum life getting in the way of blogging! I’m sure most of you have already figured out what’s happened and what not, and I don’t have much interesting to say, since I didn’t see the matches, but here’s a quick wrap up of the finals today.

Petkovic captured her first career WTA title in Bad Gastein, and was awarded the Holy Flower Vase trophy, one that looks like it’ll make a run in the top 10 trophy awards at the end of the year. I mean what more could you want? Your beautiful “first title” trophy can help you give birth to gorgeous flowers. Or other substances to be enjoyed in the Ginormous Pink Bong. Just sayin’.

We all know how much Dina loves finals (of all the one’s you had to win, it HAD to be against Caro, of course) and she didn’t disappoint, going mega headcasey on the tourney that she only should have won, but HAD to win. The draw was a walk in the park, and it didn’t hurt that a majority of the top 10 seeds were took out in early rounds. Well, Dina needed 3 sets, not to mention 75 in the third set, but hell, a win is a win. The trophy was one of those lame glass shapes with the tourney name painted on. Yeah, not fun OR practical. Slovenia fail.

WTF, Q-Man? Captain Querrey couldn’t get shit done today against Ginepri, who claimed his third career title. And hey, he’s still an American, so the tourney organizers have to be happy about that, even though there was about a 50% chance an American was gonna win. Too bad for the Q, he really has trouble getting deeper in slams and stepping up and claiming tourneys where he could really do well, especially with the two seeds about him (Boresunov and The Dude) going out in earlier rounds.
