In the quarterfinal she needed to save two match points. In the semifinal, she had to come back from losing the first set to love. The final was all cruise control for metal giant (…wait, what?) Chaky, who takes home her first title since 2008. She showed she can play consistent tennis, and really control that fine line of playing aggressively without being psycho and over the top.

It wraps up what was a pretty fantastic championship Sunday, including Golubev, Goerges and junior Watson.

Oh, and Mardy Fish won at home again. Whatever. Tree coming back home to win a title would have been far better.

Well then, what is this madness? Pico and Kim both won matches. But the REALLY strange part is that Pico did it on a hard court, and that Kim (yes, its weird that she’s even playing in the first place) won a dubs match with partner Flipkens (who also qualified for singles today). Fun! And yes, sure the MTR God Of Sex (I know, y’all thought it was Radek) needed 3 sets and 7-5 in the third against nobody (Hernych) but a win is a win, and he’ll survive to have another photo-op… er, match.

Unfortunately not all headcasing pretties won, as the Chakky trainwreck just kept on a chuggin’ with a straight sets loss to A-Bond.

Not a ton of big names in action today, so nothing too nuts. Russians Youz and Nads won easily in Moscow, Domi managed to lose 2 and 2 to MJMS, and Lucie continued her winning ways, beating Makaroni. As for Luxembourg, AMG, CSN, and Ms. Licky all won the only three singles matches of the day. Things start to heat up in Moscow tomorrow, as JJ (which is on TTV – madness) Vera and CanWoz all get underway. Also interesting dubs note, Nads is playing with MaKiri. Damn that girl gets around.
