Who? I am a Canadian university student, in music. This means I’m also a gigantic music nerd, being classically trained, but I spend most of my time listening to metal. In fact, I probably know more about music than tennis, feel free to chat me up on it. I was convinced I knew how to fix Anna Kournikova’s game at the age of 10.
What? What is this blog? Good question. The original purpose to this blog was a bit hazy. I knew I had a lot to say, but I wasn’t sure how exactly I was going to say it. Spamming everyone’s Twitter feeds didn’t seem like a great option anymore. Eventually I realized what I was mostly interested in. There are a lot of blogs out there covering the on court stuff. There are a lot of humourous blogs covering the off-court stuff (and the on-court stuff). But there aren’t a ton that take a more laid back approach to on-court happenings. You know, a fan’s thoughts.
And so that’s what this became. My intention is not to only cover on-court stuff. It’s also not designed to talk “at you” like a lot of tennis sites. In other words, while I might break down what happened on court, use stats or fancy tennis terms, I’m not trying to tell you what’s what. I’m just giving you my thoughts, and trying to start discussion. If I sneak a laugh in there? Bonus points. Because reading match review with someone spewing back how many forehand winners one player hit and how many double faults the other had makes no sense. Hell, half of them just do that, and leave it. People deserve to know what actually was going on. At least I think so.
When? This blog was created on June 30th, 2009, for what it is worth. With school and work, my schedule is a bit insane, but I still manage to watch a ton of tennis and find time to write about it, so it’s all good.
Where? I live in Canada, but my cat often tells me that I actually live on the internet. Pssh.
Why? Mostly been answered, but the point of this blog is to have fun. I’ll be bringing my mostly ridiculous and sarcastic “comedic” skills to my writing, as well as trying to provide some insight into what the hell is going on. I definitely don’t plan on breaking down matches game by game or anything though. That’s for the “pros”, and the lameasses.
Should I comment? Please do! I look forward to comments. I don’t necessarily expect to start up some sort of community and grand following, but they let me know you’re there, and I’m always curious to hear people’s reactions to what has happened, or to whatever I have to say. Also, try and keep them civilized, and respect each others’ opinions. Don’t respect mine though, I don’t deserve it. Really, bring the heat, I don’t mind.
