Ponder The Racket VI

- With Justine and Venus out, and no Serena, is this officially Kim’s tournament to lose? Is that possible since she’s not top seed?
- Has the draw opened up enough for a Franny RG like run? If so, who might it be?
- What happened to Malisse’s fitness?
- Make sure to catch some of Milos/Iron Commander tonight. You’re likely to get your money’s worth.
- Any thoughts on who you like in a looming Sod/Muzz QF yet?
- Stan’s presser was pretty money last night. Was asked why he thought Europeans were dominating the draw, said he had no idea… and that was it.
- Now that we’re 5 days in, if you got the chance to revise your ATP or WTA choice, which one would you pick? Who would you switch it too?
Been a great opening 5 days, think we’re going to be in for some fantastic match ups come the second week.
It’d be nice to see another “Fran run” but she’s been illin’ too much in the last few days to make that happen. Love to see Sveta sneak into the semis, but probably will be Woz to the chagrin of the media at least.
And yes, it is Kimmie to lose. But then she might face Nads next round. And we know how that turned out…
It’s been Kim’s to lose from the beginning even with Venus and Juju in the draw. But I’m gunning for Sveta or Masha… down with Kim & Caro I say!
I know C Note would kill me (hope she doesn’t read this), but I’m going for Sod….even though Murray will probably win that encounter should it happen.
And of course, another game for Miloshhh!!! Must support my fellow serbo-canuck!!!
I thought it was Kim’s to lose from the beginning. However, I’m loving the play of Li Na, Vika, and Sveta. Shame Vika and Li Na face each other next. That could have been a good semi. I think one of those three will be in the final. So yeah, they beat Masha and Caro.
I think Sod could beat Andy. Nothing in their play leans me to Sod, just a feeling. And if I could revise one thing, it’d be that I wish I had more faith in Jo. He’s kinda pulling a Serena and playing his way into tennis shape.
RAAAOOOONNNIIIICCCCC that is all
Kvitova and maybe even Makarova are playing well enough to make a run if they can keep it up. But a run all the way to the title is highly unlikely, and they’d have to do it by stringing together big upsets. The draw hasn’t really opened up on either side. Clijsters, Zvonareva, Kuznetsova/Wozniacki, and Azarenka/Sharapova/Li are all still alive in their quarters. Same with Nadal, Soderling/Murray, Djokovic, and Federer.
On the other hand, if Clijsters goes down, the bottom half gets wide open. In that scenario, a Radwanska/Kvitova semifinal would be a real possibility.
(posted after Day 7 in the WTA)
OK, now the draw has opened up.
Heh. What about Bepa?
