Delpo Wrist Update: Return To The Courts… For Realsies

Via his Twitter account. Heyo! And yes, it’s a verified account, so it’s damn legit.
Roughly translates to this, via Google translate: “Tomorrow go back inside to a tennis court:) After practice I tell them what was the matter.” In other words, he’s back on a court tomorrow, and afterwards will tell the doctors how it’s feeling and go from there. My reaction?

I am a big Federer fan. Big. Love him. I was never a fan of DelPo. That sulky attitude on court and the retirements just left a bad taste in my mouth. In June of 2009 I began to admire this DelPo character after seeing him battle Fed in the semis of the FO. I said to a friend of mine, this guy is going to be big some day. I think we are looking at our next No.1.
Fast forward to the hard court season July/August and he started winning tournaments, beating some very good players along the way. I posted that DelPo regardless of the draw and regardless of who is in the final, will be the US Open champion.
He played my all time favourite player and beat him in 5 sets. I was happy, very happy. I am thrilled that he is on his way back as I think tennis needs DelPo, or at least I do. That forehand is a master class in efficiency and brutality. I think he is the true heir apparent for that No.1 spot and if he can remain healthy I think he will give all others on the ATP a run for their money on any surface.
Really agree. Especially since there’s so many freaking points on hard courts to be picked up, and the dude has really quite incredible endurance for a big guy.
I’m loving your ‘reaction’!! LOL
I have the tennis bloggers (you among them) to thank for turning me into an Delpo fan. And, seriously, I never realiyed how much tennis needs him until the injury. His absence made me realize how utterly unsatisfactory the rest of “possible heirs to throne” (djoko, murray, sod, bird) are.
The man has cleary got IT, it being that thing that makes Federer and Nadal stand out from the crowd. I think it’s called cojones in his language
There isn’t a more desirable approach to look at Gstaad and the adjoining spots than from up in the skies in a hot air balloon. This is usually a spectacular option to capture the small town, snowed in hills as well as the valleys. This is a journey of a lifetime that you will always remember.
