Weapons: Will run all day and then some, more spin than New Year’s eve, rock solid mentally.
Weaknesses: Not always comfortable playing super aggressively.
There’s one thing that worries me about Rafa. While he was never really threatened at Roland Garros, he did make a specific effort at times to play more aggressively and end points quicker… and it ended with him being pretty damn frustrated and mad at himself. The good news is that this was on clay, and Rafa asking himself to play differently on clay… well, makes zero sense. Grass is a different mindset though (obviously) and he’s going to have to flick the switch if he wants to go all the way at Wimbley this year. Which of course, he can totally do.
I have no worry about Rafa making the switch. 3 finals in a row with one victory, to me, means he pretty much knows what he has to do to win. In light of his draw and the heavy serve/hitters he’ll face, it’ll probably be a big ask, but i think he can do it.
How big do Rafa’s hands look holding that trophy?!
Dammit, now i’ll have that stuck in my head all. night. long!
