I’m The Hell Outta Here

Sam’s over all this clay bullcrap.
When I lost that second set tiebreaker and got broken in the first game, I was done. I wanted to be off the court.
I started thinking about leaving and pulling out of the doubles and how much I wanted to go home, how much I wasn’t enjoying.
You’re never gonna win a match if you’re just being negative. I’m only hurting myself.
Listen dude. I get it. There are those days. The days where the wheels fall off, everything is frustrating, and you’re too busy whacking yourself in the head to look across the net to notice what the other guy is doing. But this?
Q. Were you in dubs with John?
SAM QUERREY: I am right now. I won’t be in about an hour.
Come on man. Yesterday I just mentioned how I love you and Tree so much more than Dick and Lames because of your good relationship, sportsmanship, and overall awesomeness. You guys want to make the WTF for dubs, but you’re gonna skip out on a slam? At least use your buddy to pull you back up. Weak.
Edit: OK, now this is officially lame. Sam has deleted his Twitter account. Epic. Fail.
I imagine he was in a bad place during the press conference, and will comes to his senses / realize the error of his ways soon after. I mean, right?? I can’t handle the thought of Sam Querrey being a JJ type complainer in pressers.
I sure hope so. I’m fine with him losing against Ginepri. It’s the doubles thing that’s really annoying, and the overall apathetic thing.
Like I told Brodie, this is going to be a Curits-like comment, so you’ve be warned.
To start off, I flove Sam. I’ve rooted for him for almost 2 years now. I was a fan of him before he made a name really for himself. I was still a fan of his after he sat on a glass table last year, though I did tweet him a few choice words.
Sam’s just had a tiring clay season. It really started with Acapulco, then went to Belgrade for DC. Then he had a little break with IW and Miami. Then he got right back on the clay train. Got to the MC doubles final. Won Belgrade.
Having played high school tennis, I know what it is like to not want to play anymore. One week I had a very long week, two three setters. By the end of the week I lost to a player that I could have and should have beat. I was up like 40-0 and go on to lose the game. My coach was like “come on, let’s go to 3 sets” after I lost the first set. And I remember thinking “I don’t want to go to three sets.”
I’m sure this is what happened with Sam. Yes he probably shouldn’t have pulled out of doubles and I will stick by my man.
I bet he deleted it just because you were mean to him!
The match isn’t tough to swallow – but the juvenile leanings are…Maybe his skin will get thicker by Wimbledon?
Hopefully. He can definitely be a contender on grass too.
