Sevastova rallied from 5/7 1/3* to beat Jelena Jankovic in two hours, 29 minutes. The 19-year-old Latvian was solid in the rallies and fended off 14 of the 20 break-points faced. Jankovic struggled to penetrate with her serve and did receive medical attention in the third set, which may go some way to explaining the collapse, though Sevastova matched the Serb off the ground and played the big points well.
