Once again it took 3 sets and just 2 minutes shy of 3 hours, but Melanie The Kid drops another big name Russian, this time a wild Masha, and is on to the second week of the US Open. Can this girl hit a flat and deep ball or what? She’ll face another Russian, Nads, in the fourth round. Headcases beware.
The future of America tennis! She’s tough as nails and has a pretty nice draw so who knows how far she could go. I’m a Melanie KAD now, at least for the USO. I wish Ana had half of her mental toughness.
It’s so good to see someone who’s not a headcase not named Williams or Sharapova. I’m pretty sure those last three games I was way more nervous than her.
