What can I say. I’ve decided to announce my return to the world of professional tennis (blogging). After considering Fed’s amazing run and win at the French Open, completing the career slam, I realized “why can’t I go for the career slam in tennis (blogging)?” Which would of course entail… blogging… until the end of time. Or something. But I realized that one post in two weeks wouldn’t get me there, so I better get to work.

OK, OK, so maybe I’m a bit of a dick. But yes, Justine is back, and so am I. School just started, so I needed the time to get my life organized, and to be perfectly honest, I didn’t see much point in offering opinions and thoughts on stuff I didn’t much care about. The DC ties weren’t particularily exciting minus the Sex/Ivo match (which the hilarious SB stats were more entertaining than the actual match) and the tournies this week are… well, not too fantastic. Plus there’s like no pics of Pico, which is even more fail. Regardless, Belgians have been making news, ReRe has been battling the evil forces of nature, and Tokyo is coming up, so saddle up again.
Apparently, as mentioned earlier, Justine was influenced by Fed’s career slam, something she is only one away from (Wimbledon). I’m a little indifferent to the whole thing, I do find its kind of lame that she was all “absolutely no way am I coming back, peace” and then changes her mind. Some people have made the Brett Favre reference, some think its unfair. I personally think its funny. Sure he has done it more times than her, but it does beg the question of using the word “retirement”. Kim “retired” sort of, but we knew she was having a kid, which is quite obviously a pretty legit reason to take some time off. Justine is a whole other story. Regardless, she’s back.
Its a tad silly to start wondering about her impact on the game, but you have to think she’ll be right there in the thick of things. Its a bit interesting that people, when talking about Kim, often said “she wouldn’t return if she absolutely wasn’t fit and ready to”, but with Justine its like “oh, I wonder if she’ll do well” as if she kind of just woke up one day and decided she wanted to return. There’s probably a bit of truth to it, but I have a hard time seeing her coming back and not causing some serious upsets from the get go. We’ll know pretty early.
So, Australian Open, Kim, Justine, Masha… an unpredictable number 1, among other things. It makes you giddy already, no? Bring on the insanity.
Oh, and yes, every time Justine upsets one of my favourites, I’m blaming Fed. Sorry dude. Your evil knows no bounds.
Aww…what a cute dog.
And what’s that black thing?
ROFL!
Love the fact that “Juju” ( rotten nickname), couldn’t even let Kim enjoy her win before trying to steal her thunder. Apparently this is not going over well in Belgium, and really who can blame them, Kim is so much win…the other one…bleargh.
That’s why I don’t believe people when they say that Kim wasn’t an “inspiration” for JuJu to come back. Her and Kim have a nasty little history between them and I highly doubt Justine wasn’t paying attention as to the success Kim had in her comeback and her immediate big wins.
Justine is probably thinking to herself that if Kim can dominate on coming back, so can she.
Does Justine have herpes? JJ now has competition for the WTA’s ugliest face award.
You know that whole “if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all” saying?
Yeah, I’m not saying anything about this. That’s how much I hate her.
@Curtis Justine may be “ugly” as you say, but at least she can win matches and doesn’t collapse after one Grand Slam win. Can’t say the same for the majority of the “pretty” WTA, now can we?
Yikes. And welcome. I look forward to you bringing the heat in the comments more often
Don’t worry, Ana will be back in 2010 to kick some ass!
And even if she doesn’t, she will always be #1 in my heart.
Even if you dislike Justine, you can’t deny that the WTA got a lot more interesting with her coming back.
She’s the one player on tour who could successfully get under Serena’s skin and push Serena to play her best in non-Slam tournaments. That alone makes me cheer JuJu’s comeback – come on, a motivated Serena against a motivated Justine is the best thing that could happen to the WTA.
